A few highlights from the week:
-I met friendly German in my Benin City hotel. I asked him what brought him to Benin and he promptly and happily answered, “Beer!” He had a gut to match. Turns out he’s helping refurb a Guinness bottling plant here
-My drivers this past week were named Clever and Sunday
-I realized that my hotel bed had fleas
-I saw a motorcycle with honest-to-goodness training wheels
-I was in my first wreck in Nigeria – a motorcycle and passenger tried to zip past my car as we turned right despite our blinker. No one was hurt, but my driver is very protective of his car and the way he jumped out and ran over I was just wondering if he was choke the guy or slug him
