Que paso?

Hmm, it's been a while, hasn't it?  Even the last post, which is dated today, was actually written last year and was waiting on something -- I'm no longer sure what -- to be posted.

We'll see if this marks a true comeback, but several things have transpired recently to breathe some life into this -- most recently, my own experience with a 419 scam, which brought back (mixed) memories of Nigeria.  Confused?  Read more.

To be continued...

In case you hadn't noticed, there hasn't been an update in a while.  Two things happened.

1) There was much action after this last post, and I have a lot of unposted writings.  However, due to a number of miscues, those writings are locked on an encrypted hard drive.  When (because I am praying hard that it is not "if") I get that unlocked, there will be series of delayed postings.  I also ventured to Argentina in the meantime.  While those updates will hopefully be coming, it will likely not be for at least a month.

2) I quit getting new source material, because I changed jobs and moved back to the U.S.  It wasn't easy moving back.  I had a great time in SA, I left some good friends, and there are many adventures waiting to be had.  The transition back has been an experience, too.

Unfortunately, the second reason also means this blog will be on ice until I again venture out of the country.  I will be continuing to explore, but now in a new city, not a new country.  I would like to think that it won't be too long until this blog/Twitter gets used again.  In the meantime, happy (and safe) travels during your own adventures.

"The difference between travel and tourism is simple. A tourist experiences disconnected sights and sounds and enjoys them without drawing meaning. A traveler roams the earth, digests what he sees and hears, and collects them in a framework of understanding, which he both brings to his travels and deepens with travels. The former is a pleasant interlude in life. The latter is about life itself." -George Friedman of STRATFOR
